Mahomes Vs The Buffalo Bills

Mahomes Vs The Buffalo Bills

It’s safe to say that at this juncture of his career, Mahomes’ most relevant opponent comes in the form of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

These two star QBs split their first two regular-season meetings, but Mahomes has gotten the better of Allen in those critical postseason showdowns. Mahomes & Co. hung 38 on the Bills in the 2021 AFC Championship Game en route to a 14-point victory. Pat threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns, completing 29 of 39 passes for the game.

2022’s instant classic оf an AFC Divisional Round meeting saw Mahomes and Allen trading blows, but Pat ultimately got the last laugh. With just 13 seconds left, Mahomes completed a two-play, 38-yard drive tо get the Chiefs into field goal range and force overtime. Then, after KC won the OT coin toss, he threw a touchdown pass tо Travis Kelce tо send the Chiefs tо their fourth consecutive AFC title game.

Mahomes came out оn top again іn the Chiefs’ 2024 Divisional Round showdown with the Bills, leading KC tо a narrow 27-24 win. The future Hall оf Famer threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns іn the thrilling come-from-behind win at Orchard Park.

Mahomes Vs The Denver Broncos

Since taking the reigns in KC, Mahomes has helped the Chiefs win the AFC West each of those four years — thanks in some part to their dominance of the Denver Broncos.

Mahomes is now 12-1 against the Broncos, a record that includes his first career start as a rookie in 2017 and a handful of blowout wins: 43-16, 23-3, 30-6, and 22-9.

Mahomes’ only loss to Denver occurred in Week 8 of the 2023 season, when the Broncos beat the Chiefs 24-9 behind a stellar three-touchdown performance from Russell Wilson.

Mahomes Vs The Las Vegas Raiders

Another AFC West foe that Mahomes has consistently gotten the better of is the Las Vegas Raiders.

Mahomes started his career 4-0 against Vegas before dropping a 40-32 shootout at home in 2020. The 2021 season was a much different story, though, with the Chiefs taking both divisional tilts by a combined score of 89-23. Mr. Mahomes combined for 664 yards and seven touchdowns in those games.

Mahomes dealt the Raiders another big blow in Week 5 of the 2022 season. Down 17-0 at halftime, he led the Chiefs to an electrifying 30-29 win in front of a frenzied home crowd at Arrowhead Stadium. The 27-year-old QB threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns in the emotional come-from-behind win. Mahomes then capped off the 2022 regular season with a resounding 31-13 victory over Las Vegas in Week 18.

2023 was a mixed bag for Mahomes against Las Vegas. He orchestrated an impressive 31-17 come-from-behind-win against the Raiders in Sin City in Week 12, but was unable to will the Chiefs to victory in Week 16, as KC lost 20-14 at home.

Mahomes regained his edge over the Raiders in Week 8 of the 2024 season, throwing for 262 yards and two touchdowns in a gusty 27-20 win on the road. The victory improved the Chiefs’ record to 7-0.

Mahomes Vs The Baltimore Ravens

While not as overwhelming as Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson has also found his name tied to Mahomes in a variety of ways.

After Jackson followed up Mahomes’ 2018 MVP campaign with one of his own in 2019, it appeared these two would be butting heads in the AFC. However, Mahomes’ Chiefs took the first three matchups: the first in overtime, the second by five points, and the third in a 14-point thumping.

Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens responded in Week 2 of the 2021 season, shocking the Chiefs 36-35 in a game Lamar threw for 239 yards and ran for 107 more.

Mahomes escaped with another big W in Week 1 of the 2024 season when Isaiah Likely’s last-second TD was called back after his toe went out of bounds in the end zone. The lucky break gave the Chiefs a narrow 27-20 victory.

Mahomes had the last laugh in their only postseason meeting to date: the 2024 AFC Conference Championship Game. The Texas native threw for 241 yards and one TD to help the Chiefs sneak past the Ravens 17-10.

Mahomes Vs The San Francisco 49ers

It’s hard to break down Patrick Mahomes’ career without mentioning his most important victory: Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers.

While Mahomes struggled at times against San Fran’s defense (two interceptions), he shined late — quickly erasing a 10-point second-half deficit with a 21-point fourth quarter.

He completed 26 of his 42 passes, threw for two touchdowns, and rushed for a third. The performance earned him Super Bowl MVP honors, making him the third youngest recipient and youngest quarterback to win it (24 years, 138 days old).

Mahomes added another chapter to his legendary career at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, when he led the Chiefs to an epic come-from-behind victory against the Niners. The “Magic Man” was instrumental in the win as he threw for 333 yards and two TDs and also picked up 66 yards on the ground. His superhuman efforts earned Mahomes Super Bowl MVP honors and a third Super Bowl title in just five years.
